Blood of Jesus Breaks Bondages of the Past- You Are Forgiven

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

There is someone reading this whose heart is heavy because it is bound by condemnation.  You have stopped pursuing God because you are saying to yourself that there is no point.  You feel that your past sins (criminal?) separate you from God.  You don’t feel like He can or should forgive you.  You feel as if they are too “bad” to merit forgiveness.  You have stopped trying.  You have stopped believing.

There is a part of your heart that is still yearning for God.  It longs to feel His love again.  Yet there is a voice inside your head that tells you that you are not good enough to be forgiven.  It is that voice that is holding you in bondage, and it is lying to you.  You are good enough, and nothing can separate you from the love of Christ.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2

In God’s world, there is no “big” or “little” sin- it is our perception that creates degrees of sin.  To God, sin is sin- no matter what it is.  The truth is that He loves you so much that nothing can separate you from His love.  He loves you anyway- no matter what you have done.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 8:38-39
While God does not like sin, He still loves us.  We are His creation!  He doesn’t stop loving you because of what you have done in the past.  If you ask God to be forgiven, and mean it with your heart, your sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus.
“In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7
God does ask you to turn from sin, though.  You can make mistakes, but be quick to repent for God knows your heart.  However, do not sin habitually and fall into the lie that you are saved by grace.  God’s grace does cover us from sin, but habitual sin hardens the heart because it is done deliberately.  If it is done habitually, there will probably be judgment.
There is also someone with fear in their heart and it is effecting your marriage.  You are afraid of your past, and you don’t trust yourself.  You don’t believe that your sins are washed away, nor forgiven.  You don’t feel like you are worthy, so you are returning to past behaviors.
You are also pushing your spouse aside.  You are running because you are afraid of what might be- and that it would be good.  You need to stop running, and trust in God.  Stop deceiving yourself into following a lifestyle of sin under the pretense that it’s somehow better.  You know in your heart that it isn’t.
Believe that God has forgiven you, but turn from the sin.  You are loved, and are lovable.  That person is gone- it no longer exists.  You are a new creation in Christ- if you allow yourself to be.  Old habits will not effect your marriage unless you decide that they will.  They won’t happen “by accident”.  Please let the past go as it is only holding you in bondage.
Heavenly Father, we pray over these people and lift them up in prayer.  Please forgive them of all sin and wash them clean with the blood of Jesus.  Soften their hearts, Lord.  Fill them with your peace and love.  Dispel all their fears and insecurities.
We break all the words of conviction that are in their heart in Jesus name.  Set them free from all bondages.  We break those chains that are holding them down and release them to a life of victory.  Satan has no hold on them- not now, not ever!  They are free, in Jesus name.
Fill them with the Holy Spirit.  Guide them into a relationship with you.  Put godly people in their path that can show them the way and encourage them.  Show them that you love them, and that there is nothing to fear.
In Jesus name, Amen
