On September 7, 2018, Grammy nominated Building 429 released their new album, Live the Journey. This latest album took three years to create, involved a great deal of soul searching, and let to an intimate spiritual journey for the entire band. The Christian Beat says, “Overall, Live the Journey speaks true to its name with each song declaring total trust, surrender, and faith in God – regardless of one’s circumstances.”
“These songs are real moments and real lessons learned from a guy wrestling with a very real God,” shares lead singer Jason Roy. “My attitude was always to sacrifice today to work toward a better tomorrow. But I’m learning that the moment you have right now is the most precious thing. Don’t squander it. I’ve lived thinking God is a thousand miles away, but He’s so much closer than you know.”
Building 429 and Provident Label Group developed a fan-driven approach for this album by releasing nine out of the ten songs before the official release date. It also included devotionals written by Jason Roy, e-blasts and story behind the song videos.
Building 429 debuted in 2004 with Jason Roy (vocals), Jason Roy (vocals), Michael Anderson (drums), Jesse Garcia (guitars), and Aaron Branch (bass). Their most popular songs have been “Where I Belong”, “We Won’t Be Shaken” which held the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot AC/CHR chart. Building 429 received a nomination at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards for Top Christian Song for “We Will Not Be Shaken”. “Where I Belong” became one of the longest number one singles in Billboard’s history on the Christian charts with 15 weeks at the top.
