Synopsis of Hillsong – “Let Hope Rise”
LET HOPE RISE is the title of both the new music documentary and soundtrack from Hillsong UNITED. This album chronicles the unexpected 30-year journey of the Christian band from Australia. It features live renditions of the worship songs that transformed the group from a church band in Sydney to an international ministry.
Songs on Album
It is amazing to hear the audience singing loud with their voices to praise God and the lead singer encouraged them to sing more. I can imagine that the audience is at full worship posture, lifting up their hands to the Lord, singing with their voices with the whole band. With Everything is a song of praise to our God who is glorious and God in all days as it said in the lyrics. This is also revealed several times in the Bible and Jesus said, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Revelation 22:13 ESV)
Touch The Sky
Touch The Sky is a song of surrender to God and asking God to use him for His purpose. I noticed that the audience is singing together with the band and their shout is amazing as they sing together. I know that they are willingly surrendering to God and not just singing. It seems that the singer and the audience are saying, “Lord, here I am. Use me!” The lyrics are like a prayer to God that the writer says that he feels that he is in heaven when he is kneeling down. This is a song of worship and surrender the same how apostle Paul wrote to Romans, I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. (Romans 12:1 ESV)
Mighty To Save
Mighty To Save is one of my favorites praising song of Hillsong United. I think this is everyone’s favorite as well as I can hear the audience were singing and shouting at the background. The audience sings louder than the band, which is good to hear. The lyrics demonstrate the eagerness of the songwriter to love others and ask God to shine His light on the darkness of the lost. Accompanying the plea, is a chorus of believers singing praises for the victory of the King of kings, our mighty Jesus. Our Lord is really mighty to save everyone from generation to generation, as it is written in this verse, “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17 ESV)
This is one of my favorites of Hillsong United and I think this is also in the favorite list of the audience. They shouted when they heard the first tune and sang together with the lead singer. The song is full of emotions of love of God and how much God loves us. It is also a song of obedience to follow Him when He calls because we are belonged to God, who created us. Even our Abba Father said in the book of Isaiah, “But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1 ESV) I love this song because the lyrics are telling about full obedience to God.
This I Believe (The Creed)
Hillsong sings of the statement of faith of the first Christians before their baptism to declare that Jesus is their Lord and Savior. I can imagine instead of memorizing The Creed which is long, they can sing the song. This I Believe is the Apostle’s Creed with a tune. The song tells us that if we have faith in Jesus, we should declare it as Jesus said, So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 10:32-33 ESV)
Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace)
I was surprise with the different tune of the Amazing Grace that I am familiar with the version of Chris Tomlin. Most of the lyrics are different except for the chorus with a different tune. It is a song of how God changes us in different ways. Like the blind man that Jesus healed, He answered, “Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.” (John 9:25 ESV) The song tells us that we were lost and now we’re found. It also says, we were blind and now we can see. I also remember the story of Apostle Paul, who had a great twist in his life. He was a Christian persecutor then God blinded him when his sight was returned he became a church builder and author of the most books in the New Testament.
This is one of the emotional songs of the Hillsong United. The audience was singing as well while praising God. I like how the lead singer exhorted with a verse in Malachi and encouraged the audience to praise God that He is with the audience. The lyrics tell us that God lightens our way where we should go and He fought for us by breaking the strongholds in us. God will light up our path and reveal to us what He would like us to do. In the book of Psalms it said: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105 ESV)
It is one of the happy praising songs of Hillsong United that even the audience is singing together with the song. I can even imagine that they are dancing and singing together. This is not just a song of praise to Jesus, but this is a song of celebration for the victory of Jesus overcoming the death and setting us free from sin so we can be with Him in heaven. Paul wrote, There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2 ESV) What Jesus did on the cross and rising from the dead are enough to pay our debts. All we need to do is to embrace Jesus with all our heart and celebrate for his victorious work.
Relentless is a lively worship song. The lead singers encouraged the audience to sing with them, while listening to the song I can hear the other singers of the band and the audience is singing joyfully with full of love with God. The song tells us that God’s love is relentless and God has amazing love that no one can love that way He does. The Apostle John said, Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:7-8 ESV)
It is nice to hear the people shouting because the first tune, they know that the next song is Hosanna. Just like in the story of Jesus when he entered the Jerusalem, the crowd is singing and shouting praises to him. It says, And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” (Matthew 21:9 ESV) It is the one of my favorite praising songs. The lyrics tell how much the composer is willingly surrendered to God even if it will be difficult for him. The song shows obedience and love for God.
This song is a song of confidence and faith that the person who was singing will be in heaven. It is also a song of praise and surrender to God as Jesus died for us more than two thousand years ago. The singer was full of emotions and conviction of faith. The audience sang along with their shout and clapping of their hands. The lead singer encouraged the audience to continue praising God with this song. I think this song is inspired with the letter of Paul to the Romans, he said: “ Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:1-2 ESV)
Everyone in the crowd sings the song with the lead singer who encouraged them to worship our Lord God who reigns forever. Like the Psalmist said: The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD! (Psalm 146:10 ESV) The crowd was not just there to watch the show, but they are there to praise and worship God. The song tells us that in Jesus we find peace, joy, the life, hope, love and good.
Back To Life
This is one of the lively songs of worship to God by Hillsong United from their Young & Free album. I can hear the audience clapping and singing with the song. Back To Life is a motivational song that tells us that we should not worry because with Jesus, everything is good even if we are experiencing troubles in our life. Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. (John 6:35 ESV)
This song is somehow different song of worship. It is not lively and loud like the rest of the songs of Hillsong United. I think this is the unfamiliar song that they have because I didn’t see any other review or comments about this song. This is a song of encouragement that we don’t have to worry, because Jesus already won the fight. He fought for us and paid for sins. I remember what Jesus said, I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 ESV) This is where the lyrics are coming from; we should have peace and nothing to worry about fighting the devil because He won the battle for us and to everyone.
The album is from a live show and a compilation of their popular songs in different albums through the years of Hillsong United. You can hear that the crowd is singing and worshipping in the background and the singers are encouraging them to sing for praises.
The Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace) is from a song, Amazing Grace by Chris Tomlin with a different tune. The song is good, but then I think that it is better that the band will make a different version instead of getting only the chorus. Also the song, This I Believe (The Creed) is almost the same song of Newboys that is We Believe. Both songs are talking about the same idea of singing the Apostle’s Creed, but some part of the lyrics are not the same.
Sing, praise God and worship with this live compilation songs of the Hillsong United through the years. This is an album to celebrate how God is being faithful to us and reminds us that God is always here. Come, listen and worship our Lord with all our body, mind and soul to thank Him for His blessings. With everything that He gave, there’s relentless love. When we touch the sky, we can see our God is mighty to save and we believe that Jesus gave us the freedom that’s why we stand singing Hosanna to the one who forever reigns.Click here for reuse options!
