U.S. President, Barack Obama, is pushing a policy change that will force faith-based charities to hire members of the LGBT (despite religious objections) if they want to remain eligible for federal funding.
A federal government source leaking information to the Friday Fax said that they White House is quickly moving its plan for furthering its homosexual agenda.
The Obama administration is now ensuring that faith organizations can no longer not hire homosexuals on the basis of religious belief.
Center for Family and Human Rights Austin Ruse commented that ““Things are about to get exponentially worse for faith-based groups who perform humanitarian tasks and receive not contracts but financial grants for doing so. Though the executive order last summer was specifically related to federal procurement and contracts, it did not touch grant recipients that substantially outnumber contract recipients.”
Faith-based organizations that rely on federal grants are now operating with limited time before either being forced to hire people in the LGBT community, look for new funding streams, or close their doors.
It is said that the aggressive pro-LGBT move has been fast-tracked, and this has left many faith-based groups with little time to prepare. Federal agencies are being pressured to institute this change without an executive order and the State Department legal office has advised the White house that it’s not a legal matter, but one of policy. Ruse noted that the implication will be the most devastating to those in the greatest need if organizations are forced to close in the most impoverished global regions.
Faith-based groups are now looking make a claim under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. However, the challenge is that a grant recipient would have to make the claim and take the government to court. It would be a long, costly process with an uncertain outcome.
Pressure in the White House has been mounting due to Democratic Congressman, Bobby Scott and others, who are looking to eradicate religious exemption initiated in the Johnson-era executive order that Obama amended last summer to include homosexuals. The Friday Fax was notified that some federal agencies are hesitant to make changes, but because of pressure coming from the White House, are hesitant to say no.
It has been commented by many that this is the latest attempt by Obama to ensure the rights of the LGBT trump freedom of religion.
“This change is just the latest of a series of religious liberty challenges directed at charitable organizations by the Obama administration,” Ruse stated. “Last December — on Christmas Eve — the Obama administration posted notice that charitable organizations that work with refugee children entering the United States must include sexual and reproductive health services that could include contraception and abortion.”
Faith-based organizations provide assistance all over communities across America. Many of them consist of adoption, youth centers, child care, youth counseling, shelters, etc. Now these Christian organizations will be forced to hire homosexuals, and locker rooms/restrooms will now be open to the opposite sex who claim they are the opposite of their biological sex.
Liberty Counsel, who is a Christian legal organization working out of the nation’s capital, states that under Obama the government is “now in the business of putting religious groups out of business”. They claim Faith-based organizations provide assistance all over communities across America. Many of them consist of adoption, youth centers, child care, youth counseling, shelters, etc. Now these Christian organizations will be forced to hire homosexuals, and locker rooms/restrooms will now be open to the opposite sex who claim they are the opposite of their biological sex.
Or face closure for defending their bible-based beliefs. How is that creating equality?
“Christian organizations cannot offer biblical counseling and, at the same time, hire people who do not follow the Bible and their doctrinal positions on human sexuality,” Liberty Counsel contends. “Ultimately, this LGBT regulation is going to cause irreparable harm to the children and the needy.”
Our Two Cents:
Tough one… While no one’s rights should be denied, it is unfair to force the LGBT agenda on faith-based charities. It is violating their rights to uphold their beliefs and forcing them out of business.
On the flip side, maybe once their hear the gospel, their lives may be transformed thereby turning what Satan has intended for evil into God’s glory.
Regarding restrooms and lockers being shared by people who claim to be transgendered, parents are concerned about preventing molestation in from those who claim to be transgendered, but are not. Anyone, no matter what their sexual identity would have access to private areas and it opens up more issues than already exist. The only way to potentially avoid issues is to create separate bathrooms for transgendered individuals, but then they would claim discrimination via segregation. So the question becomes, how to we ensure that those who are transgendered can use their preferred gender’s bathroom and how can we keep those with other intents out? The reality is that we can’t.
We are opening up our children to the possibility and temptation of both genders using the same bathroom without defined guidelines and restrictions. Everyone would be able to use it and do whatever in the privacy of a restroom. We would be operating on the honor code. However, not everyone plays by that game.
This is a complex issue with no real winners. If Christian organizations comply, they are turning their back against their beliefs, and while many people have the “oh well” sentiment, what is to ensure that their faith is not targeted next. How comfortable is the general public with the transgendered issue not only in their bathroom/locker room, but in the areas that their children are in? We are removing a layer of protection from our children in terms of sexual purity as well.
The answer lies in praying diligently over our government as God can intervene at any time. Pray for godly wisdom, and godly decision making. Pray for God’s will over government to be done to protect His people. Also, whenever possible, make your voice heard. Never underestimate the power or prayer and a Christian voice. If 5% of the population can be heard loud and clear, so can we!
