Phil Robertson Urges People to Put God Back into U.S. Nation
Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty gave a prayer before NASCAR in Texas wherein he prayed that Americans would always remember their Christian heritage.
Christian Today reports that Robertson addressed the crowd gathered at the event by saying, “All right, Texas, we got here via Bibles and guns. I’m fixing to pray to the One who made that possible.”
He proceeded by praying, “Father, thank you for founding our nation. I pray Father that we don’t forget who brought us – You. Our faith in the blood of Jesus and His resurrection. Help us Father to get back to that.”
Robertson also prayed over the upcoming election- that a president would be elected who follows the Lord, and for a “Jesus man in the White House.”
In addition, he also prayed for those serving in the military.
Phil’s prayers, however, wasn’t well received by all. It did have mixed reviews.
Some referenced it as a “complete disaster”, however some appreciated Robertson’s honesty.
An attendee of the NASCAR races, Lesley Dathe, praised Phil’s unapologetic prayer commenting, “Everybody’s afraid of hurting everyone’s feelings. It’s freedom of speech – I think you should be able to say what you want.”
There is a differencing within the Robertson household regarding who the next president should be. Phil supports Republican candidate Ted Cruz, while his son, Willie, supports Cruz’s rival, Trump.
