Does (Can) God Meet All My Needs Part One

Originally, it was my intent to write on who we are in Christ once a week.  However, God has taken me on a wonderful journey and provided me with so much scripture that, out of obedience, I have been doing a two-part series each week.  There is so much material to explore, and once we grasp the depth of God’s love, the more our lives will change.

I encourage each one of you to read the Bible for yourselves, and let God speak to you.  Many of us are going through challenges in life and the answer to your prayers may just be right in front of you.  The purpose of this as well is to have what is being spoken over you or what you read about God confirmed in your Spirit.  The Bible says that there will be many false prophets with false teachings that are designed to lead you astray.  You need to know what God says for yourself.

Here is part one of “God calls YOU blessed.”

“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.” Deuteronomy 28:1-68

Salvation is just one of the many gifts that God has given us, but life with Christ doesn’t stop there.  To stop at salvation means that you are missing out on many of the things that God has promised us as believers.  God loves you so much that He calls you blessed.  The scripture in Deuteronomy states that if we obey God (because to love God is to obey God), then God will promote you, He will bless you in your job/school (God will bless whatever you put your hand to), He will not only bless you, but will bless your children, and God will provide for your every need.

Many of us struggle on a daily basis trying to have our most basic needs met.  We wonder where the money is going to come from to pay the bills, for clothes, or to put food on the table.  For some, their debt loads are so high that it has a stranglehold on their finances.  We scream out to God for help as we feel like we are drowning… and God says to us, “I’ve got this.”

Matthew 6: 30-33 says:

“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

God loves you so much that just like a “good father”, He provides for His children.  He knows what you need, and it isn’t His plan for you to suffer.  This scripture says to seek first the kingdom of God, and the blessings will be added to you.

Why does God say this?  God wants us to read our Bibles, to know what His word says, and to have a relationship with us so that He can bless us.  God wants to be number one in our lives, and quite often, we do not place Him at the center of our lives.  This scripture says that if you pursue God, and the things that are pleasing to Him, then He will increase you.  If we don’t read our Bibles, then we don’t know what God says in general.  We also lose out in having a relationship with Him because God speaks to us in His word.  He will tell you how to get out of any situation, and how to stand in faith against the storms of life.  He will be there to comfort you.  If we can’t hear His voice, then how is He to give us direction for our lives?  Would you read your Bible if you knew that tomorrow all of your problems would be solved?  What if you knew that the answer to all of your financial woes was to take a job that God was arranging for you?  If you couldn’t hear God’s voice, you would miss out and have to endure more hardship unnecessarily when the answer was right in front of you.

God tells us not to worry about having our need met.  Yet you ask him, “God you know what I need, why aren’t you helping me?”

What makes you so sure that He isn’t, but you are preventing Him from doing so.

If we listen to God and live a righteous life, God will bless us.  He will bless us because we are able to hear His voice, and He is able to guide our steps.  At a very basic level, God will provide miracles so incredible, that you will know it’s from God.  However, God doesn’t want to just be known for getting you out of trouble when you need it- although He will.  God want us to grow our faith.  God says to be anxious for nothing because fear limits our faith in Him.  If God says that He will provide, and we know that God cannot lie, then God will provide for us.  What is there to fear?

However, our faith cannot grow and we do not become dependant of Christ when our faith never increases.  God will bless you to a point, and then say that we need to mature as Christians.  We need to depend on Him to meet our needs, and He always comes through.  To be anxious means that you do not trust that God will provide for you.  It limits your faith, and what God can do in your life.

Jesus says to His disciples in Luke 12:22-31:

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?”

Translation:  Why are you worried about life?  Why are you concerned with where your next meal is coming from?  If God can provide for the animals who don’t have a relationship with Christ like you do, and can’t do the things for God like you can, then He can provide for you, too!  God sees you as having more value than the animals of the earth, and it is His desire to take care of you because He loves you.  What does anxiety accomplish?  Does it add, or take away from your life?  What is there, then, if God can take care of the animals, and take care of you, His children, is there to fear?

God won’t just provide for your every need, but He “is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20.  God doesn’t just want to bless you, that’s just the basics.  God doesn’t want you to just “survive”.  What would be the victory in that?  How would God get the glory if we were all surviving?  How would we minister to others?  How could we help others?  After all, we are “blessed to be a blessing”.

But what does that mean?  Why is God called Jehovah Jireh (Yahweh (YHWH)Yereh)?  El Shaddai?  What is the next level beyond just having our needs met?  Does God want us to have money?  Is that scriptural!

If you want to know how to have more money, to be a “good steward” of it, why God blesses us to be a blessing to others, and whether or not God wants to prosper Christians in this way, then please return tomorrow for part two of this discussion.  Does God bless us to be a blessing in terms of finance?  Let’s see… What does the Word say?

If you need to ask Jesus into your heart, then please repeat the prayer of salvation found here: http://www.new.faithfilledfamily.com/?p=380  Please also let us know so that we can rejoice with you and connect you to a local church.  We would also like to send you material for FREE as well on getting to know Christ better, but we also need a valid email!
